Governor Wolf Announces Funding to Renovate and Expand the Green Ridge Fire House in Delaware County

August 07, 2018

Harrisburg, PA – Today, Governor Tom Wolf announced the Green Ridge Fire House in Aston, Delaware County, will use new state funding to quadruple the size of its fire house, enabling it to better provide the services necessary to keep members of the local community safe.

“I am proud to support such an important community project,” said Governor Wolf. “The expanded firehouse will better meet the needs of the growing community and provide necessary safety services.”

Aston Township was awarded a $1 million grant to expand the Green Ridge Fire House from 5,250 square feet to 20,680 square feet and complete renovations to modernize the 30-year-old building. The completed building will have six truck bays, two EMS bays, a recreation room, office space, meeting rooms, bunk rooms, and space for storage and equipment. The need to expand of the Green Ridge Fire House became apparent after the company merged with Aston’s other fire company, Aston Beechwood, two years ago.

Supported through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) program, funding will support critical expansion projects, some of which will provide opportunities for additional economic development.
