More Than 100 Join Wolf Administration for Second Health Care in Your Community Event at Indiana University of Pennsylvania
August 15, 2018
Indiana, PA – Today, Wolf Administration cabinet officials were joined by more than 100 attendees for the second Health Care in Your Community event held at Indiana University of Pennsylvania today.
“After the success of my administration’s Cabinet in Your Community events and the many health care-related questions raised at these, we created the Health Care in Your Community initiative to hear from Pennsylvanians wanting to learn more about what our administration is doing to help increase access to care, lower health care costs, prevent disease, and educate consumers on how to get and stay healthy,” Gov. Wolf said.
The Cabinet in Your Community series of townhall-like events – with 26 completed to date –give community members the opportunity to interact with cabinet secretaries and talk about the issues important to each region. The first Health Care in Your Community event was held in June at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schwenksville and offers a similar interaction but with a focus on health care.
Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine, Department of Human Services Secretary Teresa Miller, Department of Aging Secretary Teresa Osborne, Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Secretary Jennifer Smith, and Pennsylvania Insurance Department Chief of Staff Alison Beam provided region-specific updates on major initiatives and accomplishments to make health care more accessible and focused on community and consumer need, followed by an impromptu question-and-answer session with the audience.
“I am excited that so many members of the community came out to hear from and ask questions of our cabinet officials today,” said Governor Tom Wolf. “It’s important that we continue to have this type of valuable dialogue about health care all across the commonwealth and that everyone has an opportunity to feel connected to Harrisburg no matter where they live.”
The administration is planning Health Care in Your Community events for September and October.
