April 08, 2016

This week, Governor Tom Wolf signed two executive orders that expand protections from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender expression or identity for state employees and, for the first time, employees of contractors doing business with the commonwealth. Governor Wolf’s executive orders come as the Pennsylvania Fairness Act, which would apply these protections to all Pennsylvania workers, remains stalled in the General Assembly.

On Tuesday, Governor Wolf joined Vice President Joe Biden to launch the “It’s On Us” National Spring Week of Action. This spring, the Week of Action is being held from April 3-9, during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Thousands of young people across the country will host and participate in events designed to not only raise awareness about the campaign but also continue to work to foster a culture of consent.

Governor Wolf also continued to call on the General Assembly to pass government reform legislation and a statewide minimum wage hike.
