May 20, 2021
Today, Governor Tom Wolf thanked federal lawmakers for passing the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, and President Biden for signing it. The governor released the following statement:
“During the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, our nation saw an unacceptable rise in hate crimes against our Asian and Asian-American community members. Hate has no place in Pennsylvania, or in America.
“This important bill will expedite the federal response to hate crimes related to COVID-19. As a nation, we must stand against hatred, discrimination and intolerance in every form. I applaud the lawmakers who passed this bill, and President Biden for signing it into law. Thank you for standing with our Asian and Asian-American community.”
