Governor Wolf Announces Expansion of Production Capacity, Job Creation at TruFood Mfg., Inc.
September 05, 2018
Harrisburg, PA – Today, Governor Tom Wolf announced a new low-interest loan approval through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) program for TruFood Mfg., Inc., a confection and snack food manufacturer, that will enable the expansion of the company’s production capacity and the creation of more than 50 new jobs in the Pittsburgh area.
“This is great news for the workers and families in the region,” Governor Wolf said. “TruFood has had great success in Pittsburgh over the years, and this funding will help them continue that success for years to come.”
In 2018, PIDA has approved $68.5 million in low-interest loans that have resulted in $91.3 million in private investment and supported 3,380 created and retained full-time jobs.
TruFood Mfg., Inc. was approved for a $650,000, 10-year loan at a 3.75 percent rate through North Side Industrial Development Company, Inc. for the purchase of machinery and equipment to be installed at the company’s manufacturing facility located in Pittsburgh. To meet the production obligations of several new contracts, the company requires two additional production and bagging lines to be constructed along with significant building modifications to accommodate the installation of the new production lines. The project is expected to create 55 new full-time jobs and retain 470 existing jobs within three years.
PIDA is an independent authority staffed and regulated through the Department of Community and Economic Development. The authority provides capital for building acquisition, construction and renovation work, machinery, and equipment loans along with working capital lines of credit, primarily for manufacturers, industrial developers, research and development firms, agricultural processors, and employers looking to establish national or regional headquarters in Pennsylvania.
