Governor Wolf Applauds House for Doing the Right Thing to Support Victims of Child Sexual Abuse

September 25, 2018

Harrisburg, PA — Governor Tom Wolf applauded the state House for its overwhelming passage of Senate Bill 261, including the “window of justice” on the statute of limitations, to protect victims of child sexual abuse.

“The House did the right thing and voted overwhelmingly to support victims of child sexual abuse and I applaud them for their swift passage of Senate Bill 261,” Gov. Wolf said. “If we cannot defend victims of these horrific acts, we may very well lose the trust of those we represent, of those most in need of defense, of protection, of support.

“The tireless work of the advocates, Rep. Mark Rozzi, Attorney General Shapiro, the victims who bravely spoke out, and the families of those who have lost loved ones because of these heinous abuses has helped the House to move quickly, demonstrating again that Pennsylvania is at the forefront of states willing to take these issues seriously. I now ask the Senate to take up this legislation and follow suit with passage of this landmark legislation.”

SB 261 passed 173-21.
