Governor Wolf Congratulates Aramark on Announcement of New Global Headquarters in Philadelphia

September 12, 2016

Philadelphia, PA – During an event in Philadelphia today, Governor Tom Wolf joined Aramark to announce the company’s plan to maintain its world headquarters within the City of Philadelphia.

The $15 billion global leader in food, facilities management and uniforms will relocate from its current location at 1101 Market Street to a fully-renovated nine-story building located at 2400 Market Street. The Wolf Administration worked cooperatively with Aramark leading up to this announcement.

“As one of the largest international corporations headquartered in Pennsylvania, it was extremely important to the state that Aramark continued to call Philadelphia its home,” Governor Wolf said. “The commonwealth served as a strategic partner throughout the process, working to ensure that Aramark remained here. We made the decision to further support Aramark by making a commitment to support the public infrastructure and redevelopment at the company’s new site to ensure the high number of jobs and private sector investment remain in Pennsylvania.”

“We are proud to continue to call Pennsylvania home as we grow Aramark successfully into the future,” said Eric J. Foss, Aramark Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. “On behalf of more than 14,000 Aramark Service Stars working here, I would like to thank Governor Wolf and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for being committed partners as we conducted the search for our new global headquarters.”

Aramark, a Fortune 200 company, has been headquartered in Philadelphia for 55 years. The company operates in 21 countries, and employs 270,000 people worldwide. Specifically in Pennsylvania, Aramark employs approximately 14,000 people, which includes approximately 6,500 in Philadelphia. The company’s annual economic impact within the commonwealth is estimated at over $500 million.

“Aramark has been a vital part of Pennsylvania’s business community for over five decades, and I am thrilled that the City and State were able to work together to ensure that this influential company continues to call Philadelphia home,” said Mayor Jim Kenney. “We look forward to continuing to work with Aramark as they begin a new era at the West Market Street location.”

Aramark is expected to begin transitioning approximately 1,200 management and support associates to the new location in the fall of 2018, with a full move estimated for completion by the end of that year.
