Governor Wolf Opposes Voucher Plan That Would Cut Public School Funding

May 22, 2018

Harrisburg, PA – Governor Tom Wolf today spoke out against Senate Bill 2, which would siphon scarce resources from public schools, according to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, and direct those funds to private schools.

Governor Wolf’s full statement:

“I have fought to protect public education and restore the state funding cut from our public schools under the previous administration. Senate Bill 2 would take us backwards and could mean many millions of dollars being cut from public schools. We need to invest in Pennsylvania’s public schools and improve education for all students. Every child deserves a quality education, no matter where they live.

“Senate Bill 2 would set up schools to fail and we cannot accept that as adequate for any of our children. I urge the full Senate to reject this measure and let’s focus on giving our schools, students, teachers, and administrators the tools and resources that they need to succeed.”
