Governor Wolf Provides Update on Train and Tanker Accident in SW Pennsylvania

Harrisburg, PA – Governor Tom Wolf today provided an update on this morning’s accident between a Norfolk Southern train and a tanker carrying hydrochloric acid in Centerville Borough, Washington County.
“The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency is engaged and working with county emergency personnel to ensure the continued safety of residents in the area,” Governor Wolf said. “I am in contact with PEMA and the Department of Environmental Protection and we are closely monitoring the situation. We will continue to update the public in that area as responders work to secure the situation.”
County emergency personnel are going door-to-door in neighborhoods impacted by the accident to facilitate any necessary evacuations. Norfolk Southern Railroad’s hazmat team is en route to the accident site.
