Governor Wolf Statement on 15th Anniversary of September 11th
September 11, 2016
Harrisburg, PA — Governor Tom Wolf released the following statement on the 15th anniversary of September 11th:
“We come together on September 11th across the country to mourn and remember what happened. But here in Pennsylvania, we especially remember the bravery of the 40 passengers and crew on Flight 93 because what they did was amazing and heartbreaking. It was an act of love, an act of protection for their fellow citizens.
“They stood up for us and they fought back, not for self-preservation, but to save the lives of people that they did not know, would never meet. That sacrifice, that act of protection that they performed, is the most noble act one can perform – to lay down their life to save another. And they did it without hesitation.
“We all hope that we have the bravery to act as they did, to take action in the face of danger. But we do not know if we can do it until it is time to make the decision.
“When the time came for the 40 passengers and crew to make that decision, they proved to be the greatest example of heroism, of love for their neighbor, that I have ever heard. We hope that in celebrating their lives, we can pay some small tribute to the tremendous act of love they performed for us.”
