Governor Wolf’s Tour of Historic Philadelphia

By: The Office of Governor Tom Wolf

July 25, 2016

On Sunday, Governor Wolf toured the beautiful Philadelphia Historic District. With visitors from all over coming to the city for the Democratic National Convention, the governor decided to join tourists on the historic Philadelphia trail.

After all, the Declaration of Independence was debated and signed in Independence Hall on July 4, 1776, as was the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.

The Democratic National Convention this week is the eighth time Philadelphia has played host to a party convention since 1856. But only one president, James Buchanan, has ever hailed from our state.

William Penn founded our state as a refuge for people of different faiths, nationalities, and opinions, and in that spirit we welcome you.

So whether you’re visiting for the Democratic National Convention or to immerse yourself in history, we invite you to pursue your happiness in Philadelphia.
