Governor Wolf’s Week, August 7 – August 13, 2016

August 12, 2016

This week Governor Wolf continued his tour of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Centers of Excellence across Pennsylvania and discussed the significant investment made in the 2016-17 budget to combat the opioid abuse epidemic plaguing the state. Joined by Department of Human Services Secretary Ted Dallas, Governor Wolf hosted press conferences at Crossroads Counseling in Williamsport and Montgomery County Recovery Center in Montgomery County.

Continuing to fight the opioid abuse and heroin use epidemic is a top priority for the Wolf administration. On Wednesday, Governor Wolf announced through his GO-TIME initiative that the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs enabled nearly $3.5 million to be spent on drug and alcohol treatment-related services in fiscal year 2015-16 by working with the Department of Human Services to expedite the processing of Medicaid applications for offenders entering residential drug and alcohol treatment.

Also this week, Pennsylvania’s bipartisan liquor reform law took effect. The new liquor laws are the largest reform package passed since the end of prohibition 80 years ago and enhance the customer experience by providing greater convenience and satisfaction.
