On Wednesday and Friday, Governor Wolf sent letters to the Pennsylvania delegation to urge them to vote “no” for the Republican healthcare plan, the American Health Care Act. The governor expressed his concern that the proposed legislation would negatively impact health care coverage for Pennsylvanians and shift billions in costs to state taxpayers and hospitals.

Members of Governor Wolf’s administration also expressed concern over the AHCA. On Wednesday, the secretaries from the departments of Health, Human Services, Insurance, and Aging hosted a press call to discuss the devastating effects the proposed legislation could have on Pennsylvanians.

On Thursday, Department of Human Services Secretary Ted Dallas and Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller joined elected officials, medical professionals, and health care consumers in Pittsburgh for a rally against repealing the Affordable Care Act.

Also this week, Governor Wolf announced that the Department of Education would be making emergency declarations to help schools in Northeast Pennsylvania satisfy the 180-day requirement due to school closings caused by winter storm Stella.
