On this day of remembrance, we honor friends, family members, and loved ones who have lost their lives to the disease of addiction and give our support to those in our communities who are coping with loss or struggling from this horrible disease.

As we all know, the disease of addiction does not discriminate – it affects Pennsylvanians from all walks of life. While we have achieved much, we can and should do more to address this matter that is plaguing all of our communities.

We owe it to those who lost their battle to the disease of addiction to make sure that we do everything in our power to acknowledge substance use disorder as an illness, not a flaw, and help those who are struggling with it.

Together let’s remember the loved ones that we have lost and, in their honor, work to provide the best help, treatment, and support that we can.

If you or someone you know is suffering from opioid addiction, help is available. Please visit pa.gov/opioids or call 1-800-662-HELP.
