There are two main outcomes from expanding Medicaid –
Right now, Pennsylvania offers three health plans for low-income residents: low risk, high risk, and a private coverage option. The new expansion plan puts everyone into one plan.

Moreover, Pennsylvania currently requires a complicated health screening tool to qualify for benefits. The new expansion plan eliminates this requirement.

This is what people who are currently covered by HealthyPA need to know:
First, no coverage will be immediately impacted by the decision to expand Medicaid.

Second, all beneficiaries will be clearly informed about transitioning to the new streamlined benefit package.

And third, there will be no gap in coverage.

Governor Tom Wolf and Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services are working to transition to the new system this spring. More information is available at: healthchoicespa.com
