Weekly Update: Promoting Economic Development and Job Training, Fighting to Protect Health Care, Confronting Climate Change

Governor Wolf continued his Jobs That Pay tour with stops in Philadelphia and Northeast PA. In Philadelphia, the governor visited the Frank Recruitment Group and announced the company’s plan to create 250 new jobs. While in Philadelphia, the governor also toured the Philly Shipyard Apprentice Training Academy and touted the importance of apprenticeships and workforce training to strengthen Pennsylvania’s economy. On Friday, the governor visited Gertrude Hawk Chocolates in Northeast Pennsylvania and hosted a discussion on manufacturing with employees.

On Monday, Governor Wolf sent a letter to Senator Pat Toomey to express his concerns about the impact federal health care cuts would have on Pennsylvanians.

Prior to President Trump’s announcement on the U.S. withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, Governor Wolf released a statement urging the President to reconsider and warning of the negative impacts withdrawing from the agreement would have on Pennsylvania. The governor shared his disappointment in the President’s decision after the announcement was made.
