Gov. Wolf to Visit Blair County Hemp Farm
Governor Tom Wolf will visit a hemp farm in Blair County to learn how Pennsylvania is taking advantage of the new economic development opportunities provided by industrial hemp.
Pennsylvania submitted a state plan to the US Department of Agriculture to take advantage of new opportunities in the Farm Bill Industrial Hemp Production program. The plan certifies the state’s commitment to creating the conditions for Pennsylvanians to grow a profitable, sustainable, and in-demand product that ended an 80-year growing ban in 2018. Acreage caps have been lifted and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has issued nearly 200 permits on more than 500 different growing locations for 2019.
