Governor Wolf Tours District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund Breslin Learning Center, Discusses Importance of Apprenticeships and Job Training
Governor Wolf will tour District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund Breslin Learning Center in Philadelphia. After the tour, the governor will host a roundtable discussion on the importance of job training and apprenticeship programs.
Governor Wolf’s 2017-18 budget includes an apprenticeship grant program – both for those leaving the K-12 education system and those transitioning into a new industry sector. Businesses can seek funding of up to $2,000 for each apprentice employed pursuant to an apprenticeship agreement with the Office of Apprenticeship, U.S. Department of Labor.
District 1199C was created in 1974 and currently serves over 4,000 students annually at the Breslin Learning Center in Center City Philadelphia. The Training Fund’s student-centered approach incorporates individualized career coaching and case management to help individuals obtain the educational credentials and professional certifications they will need to achieve their academic and career goals.
